Prague (Praha), the Golden city is one of the most beautiful and visited cities in Europe!
A plenty of festivals and events year round attract visitors of the city, from inside as well as outside the Czech republic.
Major events:
- Prague Spring International Music Festival ( Pražské jaro) is a regular show of outstanding world artists, symphony orchestras and chamber ensembles.
It takes place every year in Prague from May 12 (the anniversary of Bedrich Smetana's death) to June 4. Since its inception (1946), it has been a representative showcase of world music culture and its latest trends.
- International Jazz Festival is the oldest music festival in the Czech Republic and also one of the oldest and most traditional ones in Europe.
Prague International Jazz Festival became a tradition for Autumn as an equivalent to the Prague Spring International Music Festival of classical music,
which is traditional for the first part of the year. During the previous years have the organizers focused more on the traditional jazz, but more recently they have been aiming for the variety in this music genre.
- Bohemia Carnival (Massopust) one of the main winter events of the Czech Republic. An event combining colors, creativity and charm. It begins as early as January, and continues until the Fat Tuesday, the highlight of the event with extraordinary parades. The characters,
are those related to the Czech tradition. Each, with a task and a well-defined meaning. You will find straw men, people dressed as horses, chimney sweeps, the boss’s wife, and many others.
- Prague Winter Festival started 1972, it takes place, every year, at the beginning of January. Several concerts, operas and ballet performances are held at various places, such as in the National Theater, State Theater and Rudolfinum.
Many other annual events and festivals take place in the city, such as: Czech Beer Festival, Febiofest International Film Festival, Carodejnice (witch burning), Prague Fringe and others..
Due to the current Covid pandemic restrictions, unfortunately, all cultural activities are suspended these days.
